New 1RU Taurus UCX universal USB-C and HDMI matrix switcher transmitters bringing rack-mountable design, 2x100W USB-C charging and full BYOM support with up to 100 meters extension.
We have introduced Rack Taurus for rack-based environments such as education and corporate training spaces enabling clean, centralised AV installations combined with full BYOM support. Rack Taurus is engineered to simplify deployment, servicing and everyday operation in bigger shared rooms – like auditoriums.
Rack Taurus is available in two versions: UCX-4×3-TPX-TX30-R for 10G SDVoE Compatible direct-link extension, and UCX-4×3-TPN-TX30-R for one-to-many distribution over 10G SDVoE compatible AV over IP networks. Both models support USB-C and HDMI+USB-B connectivity for 4K/5K video, audio and USB data transmission, along with LARA automation features to support advanced room control and automation workflows.
Designed specifically for rack integrations, Rack Taurus is a 1RU solution with rear-facing connectivity and built in power supply to allow one-side cabling and tidy installation in AV racks, lecterns and credenzas. An internal power supply helps reducing external components, while front-to-back active cooling with intelligent fan control is optimizing airflow while minimising noise. The front panel prioritises status visibility and control, while cables remain protected and organised at the rear.
To improve the user experience at the lectern, Rack Taurus supports 2×100W USB-C power delivery for connected laptops helping presenters connect quickly with fewer adapters. It can also simultaneously provide 30W PoE+ power to connected devices (on ETH3 port), reducing the need for additional power accessories.
The two product variant addresses different system architectures while maintaining a consistent Taurus feature set. The TPX model delivers deterministic, low-latency direct-link extension over a 10G SDVoE link without a network switch. The TPN model enables scalable, one-to-many SDVoE compatible AVoIP distribution over a 10G Ethernet network as part of a broader AV-over-IP design. Both versions help overcome the distance limits of traditional USB and HDMI cabling, extending video, audio, control and USB 2.0 data up to 100 metres.
“Rack Taurus re-engineers the Taurus UCX experience for rack-based installations, helping integrators deliver cleaner builds, faster servicing and dependable day-to-day operation in education and corporate training environments,” says Gergely Vida, CEO at Lightware."
